WOODSTOCK — A 17-year-old Roswell resident died Tuesday night in an Earney Road single-vehicle crash where speed was a contributing factor, the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office said Wednesday.

Authorities said the fatal crash happened around 7:45 p.m. on Earney near Silver Fox Run. A Mazda 3 left the roadway and hit a tree, authorities said.

The driver, who authorities identified as William Sternot, was pronounced dead at the scene. Sternot was the sole occupant in the Mazda, authorities said.
