What’s the most innovative idea that you’ve tried in your classroom?Â
One of my favorite learning experiences was part of a Project Based Learning unit where we designed a recipe based on ingredients grown in Georgia and entered our dish into a grade level cooking competition. Â The authenticity it brought to student learning was inspiring! Â
Who is the best teacher you ever had and what made him or her special?
My fifth-grade teacher, Mrs. Allen, was an amazing teacher. Â It was evident she valued all of her students, and she went above and beyond to encourage us to be our best. Â She had high expectations that were backed by a genuine love for her students.Â
What can parents do to prepare their children for learning?
Reading to your child every day from an early age is one of the most powerful ways to encourage learning. Show them reading is fun! Â Use funny voices for younger students and find books your child loves.Â
What are the obstacles to getting all kids to achieve?
Motivation for learning can be an obstacle for some students for a variety of reasons, but I believe these can be overcome through building impactful relationships and bringing a fun energy into the classroom.Â
