Heavy winds are expected to batter much of central and eastern New Mexico throughout Saturday.
West winds between 30 and 40 mph with gusts of up to 65 mph are expected for parts of central, east central, southeast and west-central New Mexico, including Chaves County Plains and eastern Lincoln County, according to a High Wind Watch issued Friday by the National Weather Service in Albuquerque.
