The Kansas City Chiefs won their third Super Bowl under the Andy Reid & Patrick Mahomes regime Sunday night. Another big winner last night was the city of Atlanta being represented by Usher, who has deep ties to the city, and the awesome cast he brought out with him to perform during the Halftime Show. Usher was able to rock the stage with his incredible dance moves as well as dive deep into his bag of hits ranging decades.
Atlanta finally got the halftime show it deserved after a respectable performance by Maroon 5, but a performance that did not take advantage of the rich history of music in the city. Usher brought out artists from Atlanta and beyond including Ludacris, Alicia Keys and Lil John to complete his performance. Jermaine Dupri was also on stage to close out the concert which also features an incredible choreography routine and dancers off-stage that electrified the crowd in Las Vegas.
Perhaps next time around when a Super Bowl comes to Atlanta we can look back at this performance and the NFL will use it as a template to properly shine a light on the city’s musical history.
