Feedback Needed For CALEA Accreditation + City Task Force Meets

Here are the top stories in Roswell today:

  1. The Roswell Police Department is partnered with the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies, Inc. (CALEA) to makes sure the department maintains compliance with their standards. The police department is frequently evaluated to make sure they uphold the required standards, involve themselves in community service, provide public safety services, and candidacy in order to maintain an accredited status. The department is opening up a public comment period to receive the community’s feedback on how the police department maintains these standards in relation to the Emergency Communications Division (E-911). Residents can offer their opinions on the CALEA – Accreditation Public Comment Portal. A copy of these set of standards can be reviewed at the Roswell Police Department. (The City of Roswell)
  2. The April 2023 hit-and-run in Roswell that seriously injured two elderly women has prompted neighbors in the Willow Springs community to take measures to make the area safer. Traffic is increasing and they want more sidewalks in their neighborhood. The president of the Willow Springs HOA, Bob Evers, said that the HOA has created a design and proposal for a sidewalk to the built. In their plans, the sidewalk will be placed on the inside of the 3.5-mile loop that runs through the neighborhood. He also stated that the HOA has petitioned the city for a sidewalk for many years. Mayor Kurt Wilson stated that this issue is the responsibility of the neighborhood and HOA, and that “the city is not in the business…
