Atlanta media expert offers tips to make this year’s ‘Galentine’s Day’ a celebration to love – WABE

Liz Lemon, the neurotic “30 Rock” character and brainchild of actress Tina Fey, once told a little girl that Valentine’s Day was “a sham created by card companies to reinforce and exploit gender stereotypes”. She’s not totally wrong, and modern times call for modern solutions.

Galentine’s Day,” a made-up holiday from the television series “Parks and Recreation” (which starred Fey’s real-life bestie, Amy Poehler), replaces the hetero-normative and monogamous focus of Valentines’s Day with wholesale celebration of women’s friendship.
