GA Judge To Consider Fulton DA’s Removal From Trump Case: Report

ATLANTA, GA — A hearing to decide whether or not to disqualify Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis from an election subversion case against former President Donald Trump is scheduled for Thursday, The Associated Press reported Wednesday.

The hearing comes after Willis reportedly acknowledged a personal relationship with Nathan Wade, a top prosecutor whom she hired for the case against Trump and 18 others accused of trying to overturn the 2020 presidential election results in Georgia.

An attorney for a Trump co-defendant said Willis’ relationship with Wade presents a conflict of interest, AP reported.

Willis has been accused of being romantically involved with Wade, and a whistleblower has accused Willis’ office of misusing federal money from the Department of Justice.

Per a statement to WSB-TV, Willis has denied the allegations concerning the misuse of funds.

Multiple politicians have called for Willis’ removal from Trump’s election interference case and have accused her of criminal misconduct, including U.S. Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene.

Trump was charged on suspicion of violation of the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act, three counts of solicitation of violation of oath by public officer, conspiracy to commit impersonating a public officer, two counts of first-degree conspiracy to commit forgery, two counts of conspiracy to commit false statements and writings, conspiracy to commit filing false documents, filing false documents and false statements and writings. He was released from the Fulton County Jail on a prearranged $200,000 bond.

An official trial date for Trump has not yet been set.
