Despite their lackluster second quarter, the cadets put together a 22-16 run in the second half, giving the Colts a three-point lead with a few seconds left for the Rockets to tie with a three. With nine seconds left in the fourth quarter, the Rockets put the ball in Ramirez’s hands deep in the left-side wing, but junior Lorenzo Peral blocked Ramirez’s three-point attempt to seal the game at 41-38. Colt juniors Cole Seidenberger and Peral scored 12 and 14, respectively.

With this loss, the Goddard Rockets enter their district portion of the schedule with a 3-15 overall record and will host Portales this Friday starting at 7 p.m., with the Lady Rockets hosting the Lady Rams in the first game of the doubleheader at 5:30 p.m.

Over at Roswell High School, the Coyotes started the first quarter two points behind against the visiting Hobbs Eagles at 22-20. Still, Roswell matched the visitors’ offensive output through three quarters before putting the Eagles away in the fourth quarter. Junior Rylan Sarracino scored nine of his 20 points in the first alongside senior Manny Fuentes, who put up six. Senior Steven McCaskill put up six of his 11 points in the second.
