ROSWELL, Ga. — Roswell police arrested and charged a 34-year-old Roswell man in connection with an evening shooting Feb. 6.
Roswell E-911 received several calls reporting gunfire around Holcomb Bridge and Dogwood roads shortly before 7 p.m.
Police were dispatched to Red Lobster for shots fired, according to the incident report, and the suspect was seen running into the nearby Krystal. Police had also been informed that someone was barricaded inside the restaurant, the report states.
A large number of police officers responded to the area and quickly gathered a suspect description from witnesses. Within minutes, an officer located a suspect matching the description behind Krystal. The suspect, later identified as LaDarrius McCoy, was detained without incident.
Police say that further investigation determined that McCoy had been involved in a fight with another person, and during the fight, produced a handgun and fired several shots. No one was injured by the gunshots.
McCoy then fled the scene, hiding the firearm in an exterior freezer at the restaurant before he was located and detained. Detectives recovered the firearm.
McCoy has been charged with aggravated assault, reckless conduct and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
This remains an active investigation. Anyone with additional information is asked to contact the Roswell Police Department at 770-640-4100. Anonymous information can be provided through Crime Stoppers Atlanta at 404-577-TIPS(8477) or online at www.StopCrimeATL.org.
