As the 2024 Super Bowl approaches, the Center is preparing to air an advertisement that celebrates its cherished therapy dog program. The ad, titled “Tails of Hope,” is a labor of love from Roswell Park’s Emmy-award-winning marketing team, and their ninth regional Super Bowl commercial.
The Healing Power of Furry Friends
The therapy dog program at Roswell Park began in 2006 with the aim of providing comfort and reducing stress for patients, their families, and staff. Today, the program boasts seven ‘most valuable pups’ who have earned the affectionate title of ‘goodest boys and girls’ from those whose lives they touch.
Nicole Gerber, PhD, one of the program’s co-creators, speaks passionately about the significant impact these animals have. “They bring a sense of relaxation and happiness to everyone at the facility,” she says. “Their presence can make a real difference in someone’s day.”
Tails of Hope: An Emotional Journey
The “Tails of Hope” advertisement takes viewers on an emotional journey through the hospital, seen through the eyes of a therapy dog. It captures interactions between patients and dogs, shows families drawing comfort from these furry companions, and even offers a glimpse into the research labs.
The star of the show is Hawk, a golden retriever who is one of the Center’s beloved therapy dogs. His calm demeanor and gentle nature encapsulate the essence of the program.
