FORSYTH COUNTY, Ga. — Forsyth County deputies arrested a 26-year-old Cumming man on theft charges Feb. 8 after allegedly not paying for a $181 taxi ride.

The taxi driver reported picking up the suspect at a MARTA station in Atlanta around 2:30 a.m., and the suspect reportedly said he could not pay up front but would when they got to his home in Cumming.

The driver said they arrived at the suspect’s home around 4 a.m., but the suspect said he was unable to get the money from his parents, the report states.

The driver then reportedly took the suspect to QT on Browns Bridge Road to get a money order for the payment.

He reported the suspect suddenly left the gas station, and he returned to the suspect’s home and called 911.

Deputies reported speaking to the suspect’s parents, who said they had not heard from their son in more than eight months. They also refused to pay the driver because they did not want their son at their home, the report states.

Deputies later located the suspect in the area near Arch Pass, and he reportedly admitted to not paying the driver.

He was charged with misdemeanor theft of service.
