ATLANTA, GA — Georgia lawmakers aiming to send abortion rights to the November ballot met with media Wednesday at the state Capitol in efforts to gain attention to the matter, Atlanta News First reported.
The outlet reported House Minority Leader James Beverly, D-Macon, and State Representative Kim Schofield, D-Atlanta, support House Resolution 836, also known as the Rights to Reproductive Freedom resolution.
HR 836 could make way for Georgia voters to choose whether or not to add the right to abortion to the state Constitution, the outlet reported.
Currently, abortions are banned in Georgia after six weeks of pregnancy through the “heartbeat law.”
