It’s week eight of the Georgia General Assembly’s legislative session, and many bills face a deadline Thursday for Crossover Day.
Measures still awaiting a vote in the House and Senate Chambers include sports betting, the certificate of need, SWATTING and whether to make white shrimp the official state crustacean.
On Tuesday’s edition of ‘Closer Look with Rose Scott,” WABE politics reporter Rahul Bali explained that in order for a proposed bill to have a chance of becoming law, it must pass in either the House or Senate by Feb. 29.
There are some instances where proposed legislation can be tagged onto another that’s already cleared one chamber. Bali further discussed several bills that are advancing and explained why others have struggled to get a hearing or a vote.
