Atlanta passes ‘No Right Turn On Red’ legislation for 2026

by Fulton Watch News Feed

In February, the Atlanta City Council, with a 10-3 majority, approved a bill placing a ban on making right turns at red lights at intersections in Downtown Atlanta, Midtown and Castleberry Hill.

The legislation, which gives law enforcement the ability to give citations to violators, will be in full effect by December 2025 with hundreds of “no turn on red” signs to be placed in intersections throughout the affected neighborhoods.

This decision was rooted in a commitment to enhancing pedestrian and driver safety. Atlanta joins several other U.S. cities that have also passed laws restricting turns at red lights.
