According to the incident report, the victims told investigators they had adopted a child from Thibeault several years ago which went through with no issues.

In August 2023, Thibeault’s lawyer reached out to the victims informing them Thibeault was pregnant again and would like the child to go to them. The victims were told the child would be born Feb. 5, 2024.

Thibeault claimed the pregnancy was due to a rape that occurred in Maine and the victims began making plans to adopt their second child from Thibeault, the report said.

Both parties’ lawyers were involved, as well as a social worker in Maine.

The victims reportedly agreed to birth mother support payments to help pay for Thibeault’s attorney fees and to cover expenses such as rent, utilities, medical bills and arrangements for the unborn child.

Between September and October of 2023, three checks totaling $4,920 were sent to Thibeault’s attorney who processed and provided the funds to Thibeault. After Thibeault expressed concerns about the amount of time it took her to receive the money, payments switched from check to credit transactions.

From Nov. 16 to Jan. 10, three additional transactions took place through the victim’s credit account for a total of $8,600. On Jan. 12, Thibeault reportedly gave birth almost a month earlier than the given due date and immediately stopped communicating with the victims, authorities said.

After a month of silence, Thibeault informed the victims the baby was born a month ago and that she decided to keep the child, five days before he was born, the report said.
