Some Atlanta Public Schools students will soon truly see how bright their futures are now that free glasses are on the way.

Deerwood Academy hosted a free vision screening for their students on Wednesday. They screened about 60 students, and of those students anywhere from 20 to 50 percent of them ended up needing glasses and further care.

The free screenings were made possible via a $50,000 donation from KIA that the Atlanta Public School System and the Georgia Lions Lighthouse Foundation used to provide the free care. At the end of the screening, students who learned that they needed glasses got to pick out their own pair.

Deerwood Academy is the 22nd school that the Georgia Lions Lighthouse Foundation has visited this year, and the organization plans to return to deliver the student their new prescription glasses when they are ready.
