Shirley Rigsby Powers | Times Georgian

Shirley was a loving mother, an adoring grandmother, and a dedicated homemaker. In addition, she had a green thumb and took great pride in her beautiful flowers and delicious tomatoes, pears, and pecans. Visitors would often leave Shirley’s house with their own sack of tomatoes to enjoy later. Taking care of her family was of great importance to her. She was known for her yummy yeast rolls and scrumptious pound cake.

One of Shirley’s favorite summertime activities was having friends and family over to their backyard pool. She delighted in watching her grandchildren swim and laugh together. Her greatest joy was spending time with her grandchildren and supporting them at school and sporting events.

Shirley was a member of Rocky Mount Baptist Church until her health no longer allowed her to attend.

In 2022, Shirley moved to Brookdale, where she made many new friends and reconnected with others. She enjoyed Bingo and other activities with her friends. In late 2023, Shirley moved to Carrollton Manor to participate in rehab activities, where she enjoyed meeting many wonderful therapists and caregivers.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Powers, and her brother, John Rigsby.
