GCA concert to feature Atlanta’s Timothy Miller | News

The concert includes American music along with selections highlighting Native American and Black History themes.

“This concert features the largest orchestra we have ever had — 40 players,” said GCA Artistic Director Steven Mulder. “The brass and percussion sections will be featured on the concert opener, Aaron Copland’s ‘Fanfare for the Common Man.’ The full orchestra joins for Copland’s ‘Hoedown’ from the dance suite ‘Rodeo.’ ”

The GCA choir and orchestra will premiere a choral-orchestral arrangement of the anthem “Lift Every Voice and Sing” entitled “A Fanfare for Someday” by Carroll Symphony Orchestra Artistic Director Terry Lowry.

Guest tenor soloist Timothy Miller will present a set of selections. Miller is known as the soloist who sings “God Bless America” at Atlanta Braves home games. Miller teaches voice at Morehouse College and is in high demand as a soloist nationally and internationally.
