On January 20, 1955, Barbara was born to Genobevo and Elfida Chacon in Roswell, NM. She grew up in Roswell, NM with her siblings. She married her love, Chris, on May 19, 1973, in Roswell, NM. She attended Roswell High School, where she graduated in 1974. Prior to retirement, Barbara worked as an Educational Assistant for the Roswell Independent School District for 26 years at Chisum, Military Heights, and Parkview Elementary Schools. She was a member of St. John’s and St. Peter’s Catholic Churches all her life. For many years, she and Chris instructed the confirmation classes where they mentored many teens on their journey with Christ and made many lifelong friends.
Barbara and Chris were married on May 19, 1973, in Roswell, NM. Recently, they celebrated 50 years married and 56 years together. They shared an adventurous life shopping, traveling, and raising their girls. Many of their days were spent at sports events for their children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Together, they were also dedicated members of their church.
Those who knew Barbara knew she loved with all her heart. Her love was unconditional. Barbara’s love for others was evident in all she did, said, and shared. She had a great passion and gift for guiding the youth to Jesus Christ. She was Nina to most.
