Police pull over Dunwoody felon | Public Safety

ROSWELL, Ga. — Roswell Police arrested a 33-year-old Dunwoody man March 15 after a traffic stop turned up a handgun in his possession.

An officer said he noticed a blue Chrysler Town & Country driving westbound on Ga. 140 with one headlight and conducted a traffic stop.

Through a Georgia Crime Information Center search, the officer said the driver of the vehicle had a suspended license, stemming from a no insurance conviction in February.

The officer said he called a K9 unit because the passenger of the vehicle, a 25-year-old Roswell woman, is a known drug user.

Officers report no controlled substances were found in the vehicle.

The driver said he was living out of his vehicle but was in the process of getting a room at the Economy Hotel on Old Dogwood Road.

Officers also located a hunting knife and a handgun in the vehicle.

A criminal history search revealed the Muscogee County Superior Court convicted the driver of a felony for failing to register as a sex offender in 2018.

The driver was charged with a felony for the possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, and misdemeanors for a suspended license and a headlight offense.

Officers transported the suspect to Fulton County Jail.
