ATLANTA — When it comes to grocery shopping in the Atlanta metro area, Patch readers know a thing or two about stretching their dollar and finding the freshest produce around. We asked for your go-to grocery spots, and you certainly didn’t hold back with your recommendations (and clever quips).
The clear front-runner? Publix, which wooed readers with its famed BOGO deals, top-notch customer service, and the type of bakery delights that would make Marie Antoinette blush. As Angella Brock of Atlanta gushed, “They have the best produce and the best meats. They also every week have buy one get one and you can save money on those things that you’re going to buy anyway.”
She added: “But to me their customer service is the best of any grocery or regular grocery store there is hands down.”
Marlene Mitchell, of Marietta, said she’s shopped at her Publix store since it opened. It has a “bright, clean feel to them,” she said.
“The staff are friendly and very helpful….this goes for the pharmacy also,” Mitchell said.
“They are tops in selection, quality and reasonable prices. I hate Kroger,” one reader diplomatically stated about the Dekalb Farmer’s Market.
Trader Joe’s earned praise for its “great produce, frozen section, affordable (prices),” while Costco’s kung-fu grip on shoppers seemed to be a mix of “prices [and] value.” One reader even sang the praises of the Costco store in Cumming specifically for having the “best fish and meats.”
For those looking to go a little more upscale, The Fresh Market earned rave reviews from Roswell residents. Dobbin Prezzano raved: “The food first and foremost is fantastic. The best and freshest produce, quality meats with knowledgeable butcher counter staff and premier prepared foods and bakery in Atlanta.”
