Seventh suspect arrested in Sweet 16 party murder | Douglasville Sentinel

There are now five individuals, including two teenagers that will stand trial for the murders that left eight more teens injured as five individuals ranging from ages 17-22 opened fire on a group of incident bystanders.

Samuel Moon, 15, and 14-year-old Ajanaye Hill were killed by gunfire.

In addition to Bradley, Kingston Cottman, 17, of southwest Atlanta; Timothy Coleman, 19, of Austell, Tahkel Beverly-Smart, 22, of Dallas, and Michael Williams, 21, of College Park, are still facing multiple charges of murder, aggravated assault and participation in gang activity.

Last week, Douglas County Chief Superior Court Judge William H. ‘Beau’ McClain accepted twin brothers, Chase and Chance McDowell’s guilty plea in connection to the shooting after the March 4, 2023 birthday party on Sitka Drive.

The twins are from Douglas County and graduated from New Manchester High.

Chance McDowell pled guilty to misdemeanor obstruction charges and was given a year’s sentence but credited with time served.

Chase McDowell was charged with aggravated assault and given first offender’s status. If he successfully completes a 10-year probation, he will have no conviction on his record. He is also banished from living in Douglas County during his probation.

The plea deals didn’t go over well with the victims’ family as they asked McClain to decline the pleas and imposed stretcher penalties.

McClain said his hands were tied, as the state makes charging decisions. Both received the maximum penalty under the law, according to McClain.
