Douglas County Youth Commission visits State Capito | Douglasville Sentinel

The Douglas County Youth Commission is a student leadership and enrichment program for high school students in Douglas County. Youth Commissioners meet twice a month, learning government operations, legislation, community planning, economic development, and more through a county-developed interactive curriculum.

This year’s sessions have included Policy Development, Planning and Zoning, Judicial Review, Public Health, and Economics. The Youth Commission also focuses on community service, participating in events such as September Saturdays, the Great Shredding Event, and Junk Dump.

 “Providing our youth with knowledge, leadership skills, and a sense of civic duty is important to fostering a thriving community,” said Constituent Services Manager, Wendy Caudle. “Through experiences like the visit to the State Capitol and our robust curriculum, our hope is that the next generation will be informed and engaged citizens who will drive positive change in our society.”
