ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) – Six Flags Over Georgia will be open every day for the next week to celebrate spring break. The theme park opened a few weeks ago and has been operating on the weekends.
Along with the usual rides and fun, they also have an Easter egg hunt with Looney Tunes and DC Comics characters. They also brought back the Saw Haunted Maze for the week.
Gates will open every day this upcoming week starting at 11 a.m. and Cobb County Police is providing extra officers for security.
The park’s opening weekend was marred by fights and gunfire. A 15-year-old was shot by police right outside the park, in what investigators say was an exchange of gunfire. The shooting happened as groups of teens fought inside the park and caused a rush of hundreds of teens to run away.
Cobb County officers reportedly followed the crowd onto Six Flags Parkway when “an unknown number of suspects” fired at the officers.
An officer shot back, hitting the 15-year-old.
The Georgia Bureau of Investigation said police recovered a handgun near the 15-year-old. Cobb police say he has been charged with aggravated assault, aggravated assault on a police officer, possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime, possession of a firearm under 18 and interference with government property.
