Man arrested after reportedly firing ‘warning shot’ at teens | News

The incident occurred on April 1 when the Coweta County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call on Wagon Wheel Trail about an armed subject.

The victim stated he was walking through the neighborhood with a friend when they were approached by Kinney, telling them to get off his property, the report said.

The victim told Kinney that he didn’t believe he was on Kinney’s property but someone else’s property. Kinney then threatened the victims that if they were found on his property again, he would kill them and that he’s killed many men before, according to the incident report.

As the victims were walking away, they allegedly heard a gunshot behind them coming from Kinney’s residence.

After hearing the victim’s report, the deputy proceeded to Kinney’s residence, where he found Kinney sitting in the front of his garage.

When asked about the incident, Kinney stated that the children were on his property and that his property extends further beyond the tree line where he believed the boys entered the woods, the report said.

Kinney reportedly told deputies he believed the boys are drug dealers and he has already spoken to the authorities about them and nothing came of it. Kinney also stated he asked a friend from the Federal Bureau of Investigation to come to town to “sort them out,” according to the incident report.

Kinney admitted to firing his gun as a warning shot, authorities said. The deputy informed Kinney that there is no justification for a warning shot in the state of Georgia and that he needed to find a better way of dealing with the situation.
