Atlanta, Georgia — Star Students are found in classrooms, on concert and theater stages and at debate lecterns, and out in the community doing good things to make life better for all of us.
Here at Patch, we’ve launched an initiative to help recognize Star Students, and we’re working to tell the stories of these outstanding kids to their neighbors.
This submission comes from Susan Frankel who nominated Hadara of Atlanta, Georgia.

How do you know the star local student?
As a volunteer for the organization I work for.
Why do you believe the star local student should be recognized?
Hadara has spent the last six months learning about youth homelessness, researching how youth homelessness can be prevented and how she can make a difference. She has led a community wide effort to collect enough supplies to fill 1,000 hygiene kits to be given out to youth and young adults in the greater Atlanta area who may be experiencing homelessness or are in need of supplies. She has inspired her school and larger community to get involved and to embrace her efforts – helping to stuff the kits and helping to ensure that they get to the youth who need them. She continues to use her voice to be an advocate for young people, for those who are most vulnerable and for those who may be underserved or overlooked. She is truly an inspiration.
What’s one thing you want everyone to know about the star local student?
I am the CEO of a national organization serving youth and young adults who are experiencing homelessness. Hadara has inspired me to be louder with my voice, to continue to be relentless in making a difference to prevent and end youth homelessness and to value and cultivate young women leaders who will continue to work to make the world a better place.
Congratulations on your achievements, and all of our best wishes to you in the future, Hadara!
