With fingers crossed that record-low temperatures are over and spring warmth is finally here, event organizers are rolling out their lineups of local spring and summer concerts, most taking place outdoors.
The landscaped grounds of Callanwolde Fine Arts Center are the site for Callanwolde Spring Concert Series.
“The Callanwolde Amphitheater provides an intimate atmosphere to spend time with friends, unwind, and experience an evening of live music surrounded by the natural beauty of the Callanwolde Estate,” states Callanwolde’s website. “Guests are invited to bring blankets, chairs, and a picnic dinner with drinks.”
The series kicked off March 31 with Certainly So and continued on April 14 with Dwayne Shivers. The remainder of the schedule is:
• April 28 Ruby Velle and the Soulphonics
• May 12 Luke Winslow-King
All concerts begin at 7:30 p.m. with doors open at 6:30 p.m. Tickets start at $15 for lawn seating. VIP tables are also available. Tickets can be obtained by going to Eventbrite.com and searching for the event.
Callanwolde is located at 980 Briarcliff Road NE, Atlanta.
Woodlands Garden in Decatur is again hosting its free Music in the Garden beginning in late April in the venue’s pavilion from 2 to 4 p.m. Scheduled to perform are:
• April 30: Harm’s Way
• May 21: Two Duos: The Hills & the Holler (Monica Arrington and Stacey Cargal) and Jerry Brunner and Cyndi Craven
• June 4: Perennial Favorites Bluegrass Band
• June 11: Blackfoot Daisy
Woodlands Garden is located at 932 Scott Boulevard, Decatur.
Lithonia City Park and Amphitheater will feature Trucks and Tune from 5 to 8 p.m. on April 27. The free event bring together music, food trucks, merchandise vendors and “family friendly activities.”
Also, the Lithonia park and amphitheater is the venue for Groovin’ on the Green May 13, June 3 and July 22 from 7 to 11 p.m. The May event is described as “jazzy and RnB.” For the June 3 concert the Original Lakeside Band and Confunkshun…
