Showers, Strong Thunderstorms Likely Return Thursday To Metro Atlanta

by Fulton Watch News Feed

ATLANTA, GA — The rain has cleared out for metro Atlanta until the tail end of the week, when showers and thunderstorms are forecast for Thursday through Sunday.

The summerlike rain is expected to start pouring Thursday afternoon, said Ryan Willis, meteorologist with the National Weather Service’s Peachtree City office.

Willis told Patch frequent lightning and light gusty winds are possible hazards with the rain. The storms could be strong but are not expected to be severe.

Temperatures Monday through Wednesday will be in the upper 80s to low 90s, but Willis said low humidity levels will make them feel chillier. Low temperatures may be in the upper 60s.

With cooler feeling temperatures forecast for the beginning of the week, Willis encourages people to enjoy the weather before temperatures begin to heat up Thursday.
