  1. The Douglas County Board of Commissioners is reviewing a proposal to retain the existing millage rate of 12.563, consistent since 2020. Deliberations will be accompanied by a sequence of public hearings addressing the 2023 millage rate and its potential impact on property taxes. The hearings are scheduled for Aug. 15 at 10:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m., as well as Aug. 24 at 10:00 a.m., taking place at Citizens Hall within the Douglas County Courthouse located at 8700 Hospital Drive.   2. The city of Douglasville is hosting a funky Back-to-School Jam named “Uptown Funk-Tastic” at Webb Field in Hunter Park (8830 Gurley Road) on Aug. 19, as school resumes. The event will run from 7:00-9:00 p.m., with attendees allowed to arrive from 6:00 p.m. onwards.
