Villa Rica man convicted of rape | Douglasville Sentinel

According to the Douglas County District Attorney’s Office and evidence presented at trial:

On Oct. 7, 2020, the victim fled from the home to the law enforcement and told them she had been in an altercation with her husband.

The couple had been separated for a year when Vazquez came to the couple’s home on Skyview Circle.

An argument began outside the home before Vazquez grabbed the victim by the hair and punched her several times.

Vazquez then forced the victim inside the home.

Despite telling Vazquez “no” multiple times, he ignored her and continued the assault.

The victim’s child was home during the attack.

“While the victim in this case could not control the defendant’s assault, she made the courageous decision to testify about his horrible abuse to protect herself and her family and put an end to his on-going abuse,” Douglas County District Attorney Dalia Racine said. “We encourage domestic and sexual assault survivors to reach out to resources to get help for them and their loved ones.”

Vazquez was arrested the same day of the incident and was denied bond. He was indicted by a grand jury on Dec. 10, 2021.

Sentencing will take place at a later date. Vazquez faces a possible maximum sentence of life in prison without the possibility of parole.
