City calls opening concerts a ‘success’ | Local News

The series opened with a “legendary” performance by the iconic Gladys Knight on Sept. 2, setting the stage for a series of incredible evenings, according to city Community Relations Director Jason Post.

Following that, on Sept. 9th, talented saxophonist Boney James took the audience on a “mesmerizing musical journey.” Finally, the series concluded with the enchanting LeAnn Rimes on Sept. 16, leaving the crowd in awe, Post said.

Mayor Rochelle Robinson expressed her heartfelt appreciation for the “remarkable success” of the Grand Opening Series.

“These concerts were not just about music; they were about the strength of our community. Moments like these remind us of the power of unity, the joy of music, and the bright future of Douglasville,” Robinson said. “The GreyStone Amphitheater is not just a stage; it’s a symbol of our commitment to the arts and the people who make our city thrive. Let’s embrace this step of progress for entertainment and fun as we continue to keep Douglasville moving forward.”

Post said that while the grand opening of the GreyStone Amphitheater was a resounding success, some elements of the Town Green space will continue to be worked on as RaLin Construction wraps up a few small items.

Additional work on the bridge space, shade for the play areas, and final landscaping are among the projects to be completed before the space is turned over to the city.
