HIRAM, GA — An 18-year-old Union City man is accused of shooting to death a 41-year-old Paulding County man while trying to purchase a dirt bike from him Saturday, the Paulding County Sheriff’s Office said Monday.

Authorities said the deadly shooting happened around 1:30 p.m. in the 300 block of Shenandoah Drive.

Oscar Ubaldo Vega-Aguirre met with Joshua Alan Swink to buy a dirt bike that was advertised online, authorities said.

The two men engaged in a confrontation, during which Vega-Aguirre was accused of shooting Swink multiple times and killing him. Authorities said Vega-Aguirre then ran from the scene and tried to utilize a ride-share service.

“Thanks to some of our alert deputies combined with witnesses giving an excellent description of Vega-Aguirre, our deputies were able to perform a traffic stop on the ride-share service vehicle before it left the county, ultimately taking Vega-Aguirre into custody without incident,” authorities said in a news release.
