Douglasville in the news:

  1. Haralson County deputies pursued a 1999 Blue GMC Sonoma on I-20 westbound after Temple Police Department abandoned the chase due to expired registration. Deputy Jon Henderson initiated the pursuit, joined by a Bremen Police officer and Georgia State Patrol, who executed a PIT maneuver at mile marker two. The driver, Brandon Wayne Duff, fled the scene, while a search of the truck led to the arrest of passenger Sara Constance Stanley. Stolen firearms from a previous Douglasville crime were found inside the vehicle. Warrants have been issued for Duff’s capture on similar charges. (WSB-TV)
  2. Deputies in Paulding County initially sought the public’s help in identifying an unidentified body found near a local fast-food restaurant. The deceased man was discovered on Jul. 27, prompting law enforcement to release a sketch and ask for assistance from the community. After receiving tips, officials identified the man as Joshua Bryan Gels, a 40-year-old resident of Douglasville, who was estranged from his family at the time of his death. No foul play is suspected, and the sheriff’s office expressed gratitude for the public’s cooperation in solving the case. (
