Yesterday Arthur Smith told the media that he will announce who the starting quarterback will be for Sunday’s game versus the Minnesota Vikings on Wednesday. Why is he waiting? Is Desmond Ridder still dealing with concussion symptoms? Does he think Taylor Heinicke now gives the team the best chance to win after what he did in the second half against Tennessee? The Morning Shift gave their thoughts earlier today.
During his press conference yesterday when Arthur Smith was asked if Ridder will start if he is medically cleared, at the end of his answer he said “Sometimes it has nothing to do with just medically, it’s everything else that comes with it.”
It seems like there is a legit chance that Taylor Heinicke could be named the Falcons starting quarterback tomorrow, and that the decision could be a performance based decision by Arthur Smith and not because Desmond Ridder had or possibly still has concussion like symptoms. It feels like there is officially a quarterback controversy in Atlanta.
