Pathways hosts open house | Arts & Community

Pathways is a premier behavioral health care organization serving children, adolescents, and adults addressing an array of mental health and substance abuse issues since 1972.

On Oct. 20, Pathways welcomed visitors to tour the facility, which included a view of the counseling, case management and nursing offices as well as the MAT (Medicated Assisted Treatment) and day program spaces. 

Located on the ground level, the peer and psychosocial rehabilitation day programs are conducted Monday through Friday and offer skill-building services related to employment, socialization, independent living and developing natural supports. 

The Medicated Assisted Treatment program is a multi-faceted approach treatment service for adults who require structure and support to achieve and maintain recovery from Opioid Use Disorder, according to Abigail Alvarez, Pathways director of client engagement. 

Visitors also saw the newly designed lobby, which included new furniture, television, and decor purchased from a grant received from Clothes Less Traveled. 

“It is important to have a welcoming and comfortable environment while clients wait for appointments to ensure they are not becoming increasingly agitated before a counseling session,” Alvarez said. “A calming environment may help to prepare them for a therapeutic setting to make their session more effective.”

Alvarez said AnotherWay Foundation 501(c)(3) is committed to increasing access to mental health and addictive disease services through compassionate, educational and innovative services.

Those in attendance were  Commissioner Blackburn, Sheriff Lenn Wood, Milton Beck, Michael Terrell and County Administrator Michael Fouts.
