NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Freshman Matt Ossenfort hit a walk-off homer in the bottom of the seventh to take Game 1 of the David Williams Fall Classic for the Gold team Sunday afternoon.
Black pushed across a run in the top of the first on a Camden Kozeal RBI single that brought Calvin Hewett home from second base.
Gold pulled even in the bottom of the fifth. With Jacob Humphrey on first, Colin Barczi executed a hit-and-run to advance Humphrey from first to third and a bobble in center field allowed Humphrey to cross the plate to tie the game at 1-1.
Ray Velazquez singled home the go-ahead run for the Gold team in the bottom of the sixth, scoring RJ Austin from third, but Black responded with a solo home run in the top of the seventh off the bat of Logan Poteet to make it a 2-2 game.
Ossenfort then ended the game on a one-out, opposite field blast to left as Gold took Game 1, 3-2.

Both teams finished with six hits. Hewett led the Black squad with a 2-for-3 day and a pair of stolen bases.
Greysen Carter got the start on the rubber for Gold and allowed one earned on four hits over three innings. Bryce Cunningham started for the Black team and held the Gold team scoreless on two hits over four frames. Cunningham totaled four strikeouts.
Sawyer Hawks and Brennan Seiber also pitched for the Black side, each allowing one earned. Andrew Dutkanych IV tossed 2.2 scoreless innings for the Gold side, striking out six. Ethan McElvain gave up one earned over 1.1 innings with two strikeouts for Gold.
The series will continue Tuesday at 4 p.m. A win on Tuesday by the Black squad will force a Game 3 on Thursday at 4 p.m.
