Starting with the big lingering story: I still have yet to hear that anyone’s overtaken Maryland for Derik Queen.
Usually in a situation like this, in which a recruit has such a long period of time to choose the home school and opts to extend his recruitment, I’d write him off. And there’s no question their chances dropped when he didn’t sign early, because he was unlikely to go anywhere else. You’d still be hard-pressed to find anyone with a close view of the situation who would pick another school specifically.
There is some chatter making the rounds that Queen wants to see if Hunter Dickinson will return to Kansas next year. But to do that, unless he’s taking someone’s word for it, he’d have to wait until after the season, which seems unlikely. Indiana has continued to press hard, including pressure from his friend and Hoosiers commit Liam McNeely and some close to McNeely. How much he likes IU depends on who you talk to.
