UNION CITY — A Fulton County detention center officer was arrested Thursday after being accused of inappropriately behaving with a male inmate at the South Annex Jail, the Fulton County Sheriff’s Office said.
During the contraband probe, authorities said Jaheim Arnold, 20, was arrested and charged on suspicion of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, possession of a firearm or knife during the commission of or attempt to commit certain crimes, willful obstruction of law enforcement officers and several traffic violations.
Authorities said Baker was first employed as a detention center with the sheriff’s office from Feb. 10, 2016 to Jan. 12, 2022. She was rehired on June 7.
Baker and Arnold are being held at the Fulton County Jail without bond, authorities said.
“I am committed to holding each and every employee accountable to the oath they have taken to protect and serve our community,” Fulton County Sheriff Patrick “Pat” Labat said in a news release. “The actions of this one officer are certainly not a reflection of the rest of the Fulton County Sheriff’s Office. The introduction of contraband to any of our facilities will not be tolerated.”
Baker is one of multiple Fulton County officers arrested this year on various charges, including assault and battery.
