In some neighborhoods of Atlanta, it’s rare to see a public-facing wall that isn’t covered with color and personality – we’re a public-art-positive city. In fact, budding artists and the “spray can curious” can participate in the ongoing workshop series, “Graffiti Class ATL,” hosted by local artist and instructor Malcolm Turpin.
Graffiti Class ATL invites students to collaborate on murals along the Atlanta Beltline, with several classes still accepting new sign-ups through the end of the year.
In this interview, Malcolm Turpin joined “City Lights” host Lois Reitzes to speak more about how he shares the art of graffiti to build community pride.
“Usually, we just start out playing a game of tic tac toe and getting comfortable with the medium and learning how to express ourselves,” Turpin said.
