Local, state and federal law enforcement authorities are still searching for a Milledgeville teen wanted on murder and multiple counts of aggravated assault stemming from a gang-related shootout last weekend.

Milledgeville Police Chief Dray Swicord identified the suspect as 18-year-old Derquavious Kier.

Authorities have sought Kier’s whereabouts for the past week in connection with a murder that claimed the life of 16-year-old Desmond Keishawn Rivers.

The victim was found slumped over in the front passenger’s seat of a Toyota Corolla on the 2300 block of Anthony Way last Saturday in what is known as Duplex City, a large neighborhood in Milledgeville. Rivers sustained a gunshot wound to his forehead, according to an incident report filed by Milledgeville Police Department Officer Tommy Puerto.

Rivers was pronounced dead at the scene about 1 p.m. by Baldwin County Deputy Coroner Steve Chapple.

Authorities are awaiting autopsy results from a medical examiner with the Georgia Bureau of Investigation to reveal the cause and manner of Rivers’ death.

Kier, who is described as 5 feet 9 inches tall and weighing 155 pounds, is wanted on outstanding warrants for felony murder, four counts of aggravated assault and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony.

The same charges have been levied against two other murder suspects, including a 14-year-old, who cannot be identified publicly because he is considered a juvenile.

The other suspect was identified by Swicord as Dillion Masion Chapman, 17, of the 2300 block of Belfair Drive, Milledgeville.

Chapman was the first of the two suspects arrested. He is jailed at the Baldwin County Law Enforcement Center, while the youngest suspect is being held at an undisclosed juvenile facility.
