Clayton County Public Schools Honored With Leading Edge Award | News

“We are honored to be the recipients of such a prestigious award,” said Clayton County Board of Education Chair Jessie Goree “This recognition is emblematic of a commitment to providing our students, their families, and our community with the highest quality education to ensure that our students are college and career ready upon graduation.”

This unique achievement recognizes the innovative design and implementation of projects and programs by the school district that are having a significant and positive impact on our students.

“I join with our board chair in celebrating receiving the 2023 Leading Edge Award,” said Anthony W. Smith, CCPS superintendent/CEO of Schools. “This is an important honor for our district, as it affirms that we are on the right track as we continue to Build a Better Tomorrow, Today!”

Smith also acknowledged the district’s academic leadership team for coordinating the completion of the award application.

“Their cooperation and coordination in describing our innovative efforts and the signature opportunities provided to our students were crucial in showing how our vision aligns with that of the GSBA,” he said.

For the ninth year in a row, the school board also received the Exemplary School Board recognition.

To top off the event, Jonesboro High student and GSBA Youth Advisory member Judah Whaley provided insight to school superintendents and board members on how to improve the overall educational experience for more of his peers.
