The Children’s Museum of Atlanta is readying itself for winter with a series of special “Snow Days” programs scheduled throughout the month of December.
Throughout the month, children and their families can learn about an array of holidays, from Hanukah to Kwanzaa, and take part in activities to celebrate and enjoy the special season.
The visitor-favorite Sockefeller Plaza skating returns, inviting kids to grab their favorite pair of socks and glide around the 200-square-foot rink as part of the museum’s Jane’s Innovations Station. Session run daily at 9:45 a.m., and 1:45 p.m.
The Snow Dancer by Addie Boswell and Winter: A Solstice Story by Kelsey Gross will both be staged from 10 a.m. to noon and hourly between 2 and 4 p.m., daily.
And at the Science Bar, little ones can uncover the secrets of the Arctic as they learn about the how and why of the seasons and what penguins do to stay warm. Sessions run from 9:45 a.m. to 12:15 p.m., and 1:45 to 4:15 p.m.
That’s just the tip of the holiday iceberg. The museum also offers Artsy Mondays, Tinkerin’ Tuesdays, Messy Thursdays and Jammin’ Fridays, packed with exciting activities. Little ones get to craft, cook, and create their own winter wonderland essentials as they build ski slopes, go on snow day quests, concoct hot chocolate glop and toss up a snowball masterpiece.
