Atlanta is known for being a busy, hustling and bustling city. It’s evident from everything to long lines at the store to the traffic during rush hour (and let’s face it… always) but how does that hustle and bustle affect the people living here?
Tell me about it
A new study conducted by William Russell shows that Atlanta ranks among the most stressed out cities in the entire world.
William Russell’s study takes into account many stress factors. They say, “Although stress sometimes comes from your lifestyle, it can also be impacted by your environment. Following on from last year’s report, we have updated the research for 2023, ranking 66 cities and 37 countries to find the most stressful places in the world and how this compares to last year. The rankings are based on cleanliness, financial stress, LGBTQ+ safety and suicide rates.”
Atlanta ranks as the 31st most stressed city in the entire world, with Mumbai, India taking 1st.

So what do we do with this information?
You might be thinking: okay, great. Now what? The new year is a great time to commit to relieving stress in your life and focusing on self care. This looks different for everyone, of course, but there are some things everyone can do to feel a little less stressed.
Make sure to exercise when and how you can. Take time for yourself and your mental health–take breaks from work, get outside when you can, and eat healthy, nutritious food. Drink water, limit caffeine and alcohol consumption to a healthy amount, and remember, everything in moderation.
And maybe it’s time to schedule a ‘me day!’ Book a massage or treat yourself to your favorite restaurant.
Take time to rest and relax this year, Atlanta! You deserve it!
