Armed man arrested after barricading mobile home | Douglasville Sentinel

Earlier Wednesday morning, Douglas County Deputy Deaven Payne initiated a traffic stop after locating a stolen vehicle driven by Womack on Kings Highway, according to the DCSO.

Before exiting the vehicle, Womack Jr., threw the car into reverse, rammed into the front of Payne’s patrol unit and fled the scene. The incident started at 1 p.m., according to the DCSO media release.

An extensive search was conducted with the assistance of a K-9 unit after he drove the vehicle into the woods but they were unable to locate Womack at the time.

Later that morning, enforcement discovered that a house in the area of the incident had been burglarized and the owner’s Dodge Ram truck was stolen.

Lt. Kyle Fields, Commander of the DCSO SCORPION unit, located the stolen vehicle at the Villa Forest Manufactured Community off of Highway 61 North in Carroll County.

Carroll and Douglas County authorities determined Womack was inside and armed with a handgun, the report stated.

Womack was eventually extracted after CCSO brought in their SWAT team alongside assistance from the Carrollton Police, DCSO and Georgia State Patrol although he refused to come out.

Womack’s weapon was recovered and it was determined that it was stolen from a separate incident in Carroll County.

He was taken to the Douglas County Jail and is being charged with aggravated assault, possession of methamphetamine, criminal interference with government property, fleeing, obstruction, theft by receiving motor vehicle, theft by receiving stolen property, and possession of drug related objects.
