ROSWELL, N.M. (KRQE) – One of the suspects in a 2022 double murder in Roswell is being released from police custody. David Salas-Silva, 18, is facing two counts of first-degree murder and armed robbery. Salas-Silva is suspected to be one of four teenagers involved in the murder of two other teenagers at Cahoon Park.

Police believe Salas-Silva didn’t shoot the victims but orchestrated it. They said he told then 15-year-old Carlos Gallegos, 15-year-old Damian Romero, and 16-year-old Jayvin Montoya to rob the victim’s gun.

The state asked for Salas-Silva to be held behind bars but a judge denied the motion. Instead, Salas-Silvas will be placed on house arrest with a GPD monitor. He will only be allowed to access the internet for online school and must surrender his cell phone to his attorney. His next court appearance is scheduled for next week.
