Mother charged in child’s murder | Douglasville Sentinel

The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office said that drugs may have played a role in Ridge taking her two young, minimally-dressed children into the woods around midnight as temperatures remained below freezing.

She did not call for help until the next morning at 11:51 a.m, despite having a cell phone with a properly charged battery.

With the assistance of Fox Hall employees, deputies located Ridge and her two children.

The three-year-old, dressed in a onesie died and the seven-year-old was hospitalized.

Deputies noted that the children were soaking wet as temperatures had been below freezing throughout the night.

Ridge and her children were transported to area hospitals.

Ridge was currently out of jail on bond after a Nov. 13, 2022 incident when she was arrested at ThunderZone on Bright Star for cruelty to children, public drunkenness and simple battery (family violence).

According to the warrants, Ridge was intoxicated and begun yelling at children and using curse words in the facility.

She was also charged with slapping her child multiple times in the face, according to the warrant.

Ridge was granted a $5,000 bond on condition she lived with her mother, refrain from drinking alcohol and take a 24-week parenting class.

She is currently in the county jail without bond pending a 1:30 p.m. first appearance bond heading Thursday before Chief Superior Court Judge William H. ‘Beau’ McClain.
