ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) – The three soldiers who were killed in a drone attack in Jordan were all from Georgia, according to the U.S. Department of Defense.
They have been identified as Sgt. William Jerome Rivers, 46, of Carrollton, Spc. Kennedy Ladon Sanders, 24, of Waycross and Spc. Breonna Alexsondria Moffett, 23, of Savannah.

“These soldiers gave the last full measure of devotion in service to this country,” Gov. Brian Kemp said in a statement on social media. “This inexcusable loss of life and the attack from terrorists that resulted in these casualties is a reminder of why we stand with the friends of liberty.”
The incident happened when an enemy drone was believed to have been mistaken for a U.S. drone, the Associated Press reported. Over 30 other troops were wounded.
The Associated Press reported the drone attack in Jordan was one of dozens done on U.S. troops in the Middle East since the Oct. 7 start of the war in Gaza — but the first in which American service members were killed.

All three were assigned to the 718th Engineer Company, 926th Engineer Battalion, 926th Engineer Brigade in Fort Moore.
In a statement, the White House said, “These service members embodied the very best of our nation: Unwavering in their bravery. Unflinching in their duty. Unbending in their commitment to our country— risking their own safety for the safety of their fellow Americans, and our allies and partners with whom we stand in the fight against terrorism. It is a fight we will not cease.”
In honor of Sanders’ passing, the City of Waycross is lowering its flags to half-staff.
