Alpharetta K9 aids Roswell in shooting investigation | Public Safety

ALPHARETTA, Ga. — Alpharetta Police reported its K9 Axel assisted Roswell police in the arrest of two suspects in a shots-fired call Feb. 3.

Alpharetta officers reported responding to the call with Axel around 1 a.m. on Raintree Crossing in Roswell.

The suspects reportedly fled into the woods, and Roswell officers gave three verbal warnings that they could be bitten by a police dog if they did not surrender.

Officers reported Axel found a gun on the ground, and the first suspect was located between 200 and 300 feet away lying near a tree.

The K9 reportedly continued tracking to Market Boulevard and located a second suspect in the woods underneath a log.

Officers reported searching for a potential third suspect, but the tracking ended near Raintree Drive because Axel was tired and did not appear to be following a scent.

The Alpharetta report does not include further information about the suspects.
