Clothing designer to debut new line in Newnan | Arts & Community

Green said the event will feature the latest trends and designs in the world of fashion as well as music, dancing, African drumming, a raffle and refreshments. The event will feature Southern Arc Dancers, Vibes in Motion dancers of Fayetteville and vocal artist Tokyolxser.

Dancers will perform to music written by Green. “People can expect to enjoy not only the branding launch but also to experience some art and some music, dancing and the new fashion line,” Green said.

Green grew up in Youngstown, Ohio. He began playing drums at the age of four, and as he got older, he also learned how to play keyboard, guitar and bass. He and his brother recorded their own songs along with other neighborhood kids.

As a child, Green said he would put his speakers in his window and DJ for the neighborhood, often playing One Way’s “Mr. Groove.” This is where Green says he got his nickname “Groov.”

His father and uncle performed in a funk/ gospel band called Word, Blood & Power and his mother, Karen Clark-Green, was an opera singer/ dancer/ actress.

“Music was an integral part of my life. My mother is an opera singer, my father’s family was full of singers and musicians. I grew up with it on both sides,” Green said. “I was extremely young, and they had band rehearsals in the house – we had no escape from it – it was embedded in our family culture.”

Through his high school years, Green won 12 blue ribbon medals in the Ohio Musical Education Association vocal competition. He said that is where his passion for music…
