Bill restricting public vaping passes in Georgia

by Fulton Watch News Feed

Having become increasingly popular in recent years, “vaping” is the act of inhaling smoke produced by an e-cigarette, vape pen or similar device containing flavored e-liquids, nicotine and/or cannabis.

This March, Georgia lawmakers voted 152-14 to pass Senate Bill 47 to regulate e-cigarettes in most public spaces. The bill would regulate vaping in the same way the state already regulates smoking cigarettes under Georgia’s 2005 Smoke-Free Air Act.

The bill now goes to Governor Brian Kemp to be signed or vetoed. Under the bill, anyone caught in violation of the law can be issued a misdemeanor and fined $100 to $500.
